The damage on the bonnet tells a tale mirrored across the entire front of this Midas MkII. Consistency in restoration means addressing every facet, ensuring a comprehensive revival.

Work in progress…

70s Car Restoration are proud to present another exciting project from Jonny Evans, this MkII Midas from 1981. This is no ordinary Midas by Harrod Dermott of Midas Cars, it happens to be the one used on their marketing brochure and featured in ‘Triple C’ magazine or Cars & Car Conversion for you are not old enough to remember.

Being a special and well know car, it is incredibly important to get this Midas back to its original factory fresh specification, as the car was in the marketing brochure and ‘Triple C’ magazine.

The story starts with Jonny Evans contacting 70s Car Restoration, visiting and having a meaningful discussion on what is it he wanted to achieve. More on this to follow…

Update on the Midas MkII: Disappointing news as we were hoping for a straight cut gearbox. Also, the head has had work done on the inlets but none on the exhaust.

Just had a look at the clutch and flywheel on the Midas MkII which seem okay. However, the bell housing is a little gilded up. We'll have to give it some TLC to get it back in shape.

An early and unfortunate discover on the 1981 Midas MkII was that the subframe is bent. Not the best start to the project, but nothing we can’t overcome.
